  8. Installation
  9.  
  10. 1.  Copy all files from your distribution diskette to your Windows directory.
  11.  
  12.     Example:

  14.         COPY A:SSC*.* C:\WINDOWS

  16. 2.  Start Windows and read the Windows Help file "SSCORP.HLP".
  17.  
  18.     a.  From the Program Manager menu select "FILE".
  19.     b.  Select "RUN..."
  20.     b.  Enter the command line: WINHELP c:\WINDOWS\SSCORP.HLP
  21.  
  22. 3.  Select Corporate Logo Screen Saver.
  23.  
  24.     a.  From the Program Manager select the MAIN group.
  25.     b.  Select Control Panel.
  26.     c.  Select Desktop.
  27.     d.  Select Corporate Logo Saver from the screen saver area.
  28.     e.  Select the Setup button.
  29.  
  30. Note:  The files that begin with "ssc32" are for Windows NT.

  40.     If you use the password protection option, you MUST remember your 
  41. password!  Corporate Logo Screen Saver will appear after the time you 
  42. specified in the Control Panel desktop function.  If you forget your 
  43. password you will have to boot your computer to regain control.  All work 
  44. not saved before rebooting will be lost.    
  45.     This screen saver has an administrative password option.  When this 
  46. option is in effect,  this screen saver can be stopped by administration 
  47. or management.   WINDOWS NT SCREEN SAVER PASSWORDS ARE HANDELED BY NT,
  48. NOT THIS SCREEN SAVER.

  53.             Administrative Password
  54.               (Windows 3.1 only)
  55.  
  56. By default there is no administrative password.  A procedure to add an 
  57. administrative password follows:
  58.  
  59. 1.  Start Corporate Logo Screen Saver (SSCORP) in configuration mode.  Set
  60.     the password to your administrative password.
  61.  
  62. 2.  View file CONTROL.INI, section [ScreenSaver], profile name
  63.     of Password.  Write down your encrypted password.
  64.  
  65. 3.  Reconfigure SSCORP and remove the administrative password.
  66.  
  67. 4.  Insert the administrative password into SSCORP.SCR using either 
  68.     Method A or Method B. (below)
  69.  
  70. Method A:
  71.  
  72.     Use a Windows resource editor, such as Borland's Resource Workshop, to 
  73.     change string resource 514 to your encrypted password, in SSCORP.SCR. 
  74.  
  75. Method B:
  76.  
  77.     Use Debug or a binary editor.  Find the string "SRCHSTRING".  The 
  78.     periods ( 0x2e ) should be replaced with your encrypted password.  
  79.     Start with the first period.  Remember to end your string with a 0x00
  80.     for ASCIIZ string.

  84.     The administrative password is not intended to be easily installed, 
  85.  but for a corporate PC administrator it should present no problems.  An 
  86.  administrative password is not needed for a single user system.  
  87.  Suggestions for other secure and effective methods for installing the 
  88.  administrative password are welcome.

  90.     THE ADMINISTRATIVE PASSWORD IS FOR WINDOWS 3.1 ONLY.  WINDOWS NT
  91. SCREEN SAVER PASSWORDS ARE BUILT INTO NT.
